BIOG
De la Soul are one of the most influential groups in Hip Hop. Their light rhythms, irreverent lyrics, esoteric sampling and inclination for social commentary saw them open a new avenue for the genre, one that broke away from the macho braggadocio and even violence that had come to define it. Their momentous debut album 3 Feet High and Rising was a lyrical quest for peace, and one that catapulted them into the hip hop elite and indeed the Native Tongues Posse alongside Jungle Brothers and A Tribe Called Quest.
27 years and 9 albums later, De La Soul are still as prominent as ever. Maseo is one third of the group…their DJ and producer. Amongst recording De La Soul’s forthcoming album You’re Welcome, several side projects and playing gigs all over the world, we are proud to announce he is coming to Edinburgh.
